The Rundown: John Stewart learns some hard truth while the investigation on Oa continues.
John Stewart is on the run from the slavers searching for him and rounding up the locals for transportation. After determining that the slaver weapons are controlled by their ship, John has to find a way on board. Once he does, he discovers something tragic about the other Lanterns that traveled with him.
On Oa, the investigation into what happened to the central battery continues. With the Guardians either dead or dying, Jo and Keli are the only Lanterns left and they work with the United Planets to narrow down a list of suspects. After finding a familiar face on the list, Keli goes after him with Jo on her tail.
The Story: I like the investigative elements of the story. The mystery is compelling and intriguing as are the things we still don’t know about both Keli and Mullein. The attack on the Guardians takes some interesting turns and Thorne does a good job of keeping the reader guessing while also intrigued with everything happening on the planet. The John Stewart story is also interesting and having them contrast each other is a great narrative choice. I look forward to seeing where this tory goes next and how this mystery will unfold.
The Art: Raney and Santucci bring some great visual flair to both sides of the story. Stewart’s story has a great visual adventure style to it while the Oa investigation has more traditional imagery that showcases dynamic character and environment.
