The Rundown: Slam Bradley hears the truth and discovers that he hasn’t heard all of it yet.
Queenie returns to Sam’s apartment and decides to tell him the truth. The ugly truth about her relationship with Richard Wayne and how he came up with the plan that landed them all in the middle of a conspiracy that is tearing the city apart. A conspiracy that included the death of Sam’s partner. Sam decides to take Queenie to see someone who can get the truth from her and when he discovers what he needs to, Sam Bradley goes hunting.
After a violent exchange with one of the men working for the Wayne’s, Sam discovers an angle to the crime he didn’t consider. An angle that will send him back to Wayne manor as the city explodes in violence all around him.
The Story: King ramps up the tension in this issue and everything in it is exciting, revelatory and engaging. The story continues to evolve with great character moments and reveals that make it a fantastic detective story and noir drama. I love seeing Sam in the middle of everything with no one to trust and everyone to suspect. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next and how King delivers the finale.
The Art: Hester delivers some beautifully stylish and visually engaging art throughout the issue. The art immerses you into the world of these characters and perfectly captures the tone and tension of the plot.
