The Rundown: It’s time for Peter Venkman’s time in the hot seat with the reporter and she is in for her toughest interview yet.
Rebecca Morales is going to be thorough as she investigates the Ghostbusters for her new book and she is interviewing everyone the foursome has come in contact with in her quest to get the full story. As she continues to dig, her latest subject Peter Venkman elicits some strange and interesting responses from the interviewees.
After getting some information from Louis Tully, Walter Peck and Dana Barrett, she proceeds to meet with the man himself for his interview. After taking him to lunch, Peter decides to deflect to a story made famous in a news report about a ghost haunting a night club and Peter’s clever way of getting the thing to reveal itself.
The Story: Erik Burnham does a good job of delivering a slice of life style story for these characters and with Venkman being a tough character to mine for emotional truth (or any truth for that matter), it would be difficult to tell a story about a character so purposely aloof. The story is fun and there are some great comedic moments to be had, but it just felt like an excuse to flesh out a 30 second plot point in the movie. It was fun to experience though.
The Art: Dan Schoening always impresses with the art in this series and with the depictions of the Ghostbusters. This is a great looking issue and the characters are enhanced by their detailed and stylized backgrounds.
