The Shining remains one of the most successful Stephen King adaptations of all time and the recent sequel to the original novel is going to get the big screen treatment as well.
Stephen King’s 2013 novel Doctor Sleep happens years after the incident at the Overlook Hotel with an adult Danny Torrance dealing with the trauma of his childhood and the power he still has to shine. He spends years fighting the anger and alcoholism that eventually took his father Jack and after conquering his demons, he finds a way to bring comfort to those about to die. Eventually Danny discovers a little girl with a gift more powerful than his and must save her from a threat he can’t even imagine.
Gerald’s Game director Mike Flanagan has been tapped by Warner Brothers to direct the big screen adaptation of Doctor Sleep. Flanagan has also directed horror films like Oculus, Before I Wake and Ouija: Origin of Evil.
