According to multiple sources and announced on Star Wars official website, veteran writers and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D B Weiss will be writing and producing a new series of Star Wars films for Lucasfilm.
Benioff and Weiss have an impressive pedigree in Hollywood brining to life George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones series on HBO so their inclusion in the world of Star Wars is an exciting development for fans of a galaxy far far
According to a release from Lucasfilm, Benioff and Weiss are working on are the new series of films separate from the new trilogy being overseen by Rian Johnson. Kathleen Kennedy released a statement regarding the news stating;
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
