Netflix has started production on the second season of the popular fantasy series The Witcher and with the return of series regulars including Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as fan-favorite Jaskier, a new group of co-stars has been added including a fan favorite from another fantasy series.
According to Deadline, Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju has joined the cast of The Witcher season 2 as Nivellen. Hivju is known for playing Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones as well as his roles in films like The Fate of the Furious and The Last King.
Those familiar with the Witcher will know that Nivellen is a character with a familiar story to that of Beauty and the Beast. Nivellen was a cursed man who lived in a large manor away from the world. When a man enters the grounds to steal a rose from the garden, the monstrous Nivellen confronts the man and demands that the man give up his daughter for the period of one year as payment and to cure his loneliness. Geralt of Rivia encounters the man twelve years into the curse and must decide if the cursed man is someone to save or something to kill.
