The Rundown: PeaceKeeper Red battles Warmonger. A night in the life of a bat is shown.

Hunt The Batman
Jason has a violent confrontation with Warmonger. During which, the former is able to compromise his enemy’s armor. Soon, Jason is able to eliminate Warmonger’s control over the citizens of Gotham. Then, he meets with Batman and the Robins. After a brief conversation, he goes off to find someone important. Later, Jason meets with Batman and the two discuss their future plans for Gotham’s protection. And, finally, an unexpected enemy makes their presence known.

A Night in the Life of a Bat in Gotham
When a live bat follows around it’s vigilante namesake, it finds itself trapped. Soon, Batman arrives and confronts a killer. He is then aided by the nocturnal creature. Finally, Batman has a telling discussion with his family.

The Story: Williamson and Culver provide another exciting chapter in the Fear State saga. I appreciate how this episode brings the major players in the Bat Family together, if but for a brief time. Now the members’ positions have changed as a new threat emerges. I like the newly formed relationship dynamics between Jason Todd and Jace Fox. It will be interesting to see how this duo will impact Gotham. Overall, I am excited to see where this plotline is headed.

I really enjoyed this issues B story. Williamson does an excellent job with this clever narrative. I thought it was an interesting new way to show the humanity of Batman. And also, a means to express how he views himself and the Bat Family.

The Art: The illustrations in both stories feature a black and white design. However, stylistically, the artwork is different. Whether using a modern, minimalist style or one featuring intricate detail, the panels do an excellent job at visualizing their varied tales.
