The Rundown: Batman must rescue Superman before his powers are used to destroy Gotham.
Superman is captured and Batman fights to rescue him. Unfortunately, he’ll be too late as the man of steel is taken to Professor Pyg for a series of experiments that will enhance the magistrate’s dominance over the city. As Batman tracks the kidnappers, he can already see the effects using Superman’s DNA is having as surveillance increases in the city using some unorthodox means.
After finding where Superman is being held, the two must team up if they have any chance of escaping and stopping the use of Superman’s powers. Unfortunately for the duo, Batman will find that Superman’s presence in the city more of a hindrance than a help.
The Story: Yang crafts a good story in this issue. There is some great action and the escalation of the magistrate’s plans is interesting to see. Unfortunately, there was too much exposition for the amount of story being told. The plot was simple and easy to follow, but the flow of the story was broken by all the exposition and it took me out of my enjoyment of the plot.
The Art: The Artists deliver some great art throughout the issue. I would have liked to see more action to match the tension of the plot.
