The reveals continue to come in as the first image from the highly anticipated third season of the animated DC Comics series Young Justice has been released.
The series, titled Young Justice: Outsiders, will reteam series creators Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti and will air on DC Comics new streaming service which has yet to be named. Phil Bourassa will return as art director in order to maintain the look and feel of the first two seasons and Sam Register will serve as Executive Producer along with Weisman and Vietti.
Not only is it interesting to see who is in this first piece of promo art, but who isn’t pictured might hold a clue to the overall plot of the third season.
Pictured in the promotional artwork from Warner Brothers Animation is Static (not a new character to DC Comics fans, but definitely new to this series), Kid Flash sporting a new look, Robin (Which Robin is unknown. We’ve seen both Dick Grayson and Tim Drake on the previous two seasons and this Robin is sporting a distictly Damian Wayne-esque uniform.), Wonder Girl, Spoiler (looking a little creepy in the mask and hood), Blue Beetle, Thirteen (another DC Comics character new to the series), Arrowette, Arsenal and Beast Boy.
Not seen in this promotional art are many members of the original Young Justice team including Nightwing, Miss Martian, Superboy and the characters who’s storyline formed the basis for much of the second season, Aqualad. Could the absence of these heroes be part of the plot of the third season?
