The Rundown: As a growing threat hunts them, Frankenstein and Lilja find themselves facing some dangerous enemies.
The creature named Murk continues its hunt for Frankenstein and his companion. As it continues its hunt, it finds itself gathering new strength from creatures that have been drawn to its power. At the same time, Lilja’s playtime with her new friends in the village is interrupted when she discovers one of them in a hut suffering from poison.
After getting Frankenstein, the pair learn how the villager was poisoned and what happened to his friends. They also discover too late that the village has been targeted and Frankenstein will have to make a dangerous choice to save them all.
The Story: Mignola and company deliver some great adventure and world building in this story. This issue does a great job of moving the story forward while also creating interesting and engaging characters. I continue to be impressed with the series and the rise of tension throughout and look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Berting crafts some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. There are some great visual moments throughout and the world of this story is brilliantly immersive.
