The Rundown: Patty deals with some intense moments throughout her day.
Patty has a busy day planned not only with her upcoming book, but also with her kids. Unfortunately, Riley’s new condition becomes a concern, but not one Patty cannot handle as she takes both of her kids to school. As Riley deals with the reality of being a literal monster, Patty returns to her day of wondering how she is going to finish her book.
As she talks with her husband on the phone, things take a dramatic turn that brings Patty back to some dark moments from her past. Dark moments that could be connected to the return of someone she and her group have been looking for for years.
The Story: Kelly Sue DeConnick crafts a fun, funny and thoroughly entertaining story in this issue. There is a wonderful absurdity to the story that is great to see and a world I found myself immersed in with its engaging characters and situations. I like that the issue focuses on Patty and connects to the issues Riley is facing with humor. I am invested in this story and cannot wait to see what happens next.
The Art: David Lopez delivers some great art throughout the issue. I love the mixture of visual styles and how all of them create a rich visual world to explore.
