The Rundown: Gem decides to take the fight to the assassins hunting her.
The issue begins in the past and showcases the events that led Gem and Ammit to grow closer in the shadow of war as well as show the violence Gem is capable of and willing to use to defend what she believes in. In the present, Gem prepares for her next confrontation with the Relic. A confrontation Ammit warns her against.
At the same time, Relic and her new partner race to the confrontation after being called out. As they enter a local church and begin their battle, Gem tells the assassin who she is working for. Detective Davis discovers that Higgs is being protected by someone close to him and Higgs decides that he is going to fight for his own life by taking some from the skinwalker.
The Story: Brown ramps up the intensity and stakes in this issue while giving the reader more insight into the character of Gem and her personality. The action is fantastic and I really enjoyed the build up of tension with each part of the story. Davis’ arc is entertaining and even Higgs has some great moments that make me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Prenzy delivers some awesome visuals throughout the issue. The story is heavy in action and Prenzy delivers with great angles, intensity and detail.
