Tom Cruise and Bad-Ass Drug Smuggler are two things that don’t sound like they should ever go together, but judging from the trailer for Cruise’s new film American Made, you might be wrong.
American Made is written by Gary Spinelli and directed by former Justice League: Dark director Doug Liman. Cruise will play real life DEA informant Barry Seal. Seal, a former TWA pilot who becomes a hotshot cocaine smuggler and pilot for the Medellin Cartel and their leader Pablo Escobar. As he gets deeper involved in working for both the cartel and the government, his personal and professional lives begin to clash.
The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Jesse Plemmons (Fargo) and Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out). While many aspects of the trailer are reminiscent of Ted Demme’s film Blow, American Made does look interesting. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.
American Made opens in theaters September 29, 2017.
