The upcoming Green Lantern live action series coming to HBO Max has found its lead actor.
According to Deadline, Warner Brothers has chosen actor Finn Wittrock to take the oath as the lead Green Lantern on the upcoming series. Not only has the lead been announced, but they have also announced which ring-bearer will lead the series and it is none other than Guy Gardner.
Created in the late 60’s by John Broome and Gil Kane, Guy Gardner is not the typical Green Lantern. Often depicted as sarcastic and violent, Gardner is an interesting choice to lead a series in contrast to fellow Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart who were fan favorites to be the lead characters in the series.
Wittrock has spent the last seven years working with mega producer Ryan Murphy and earning two Emmy nominations for his roles in American Horror Story: Freak Show and Versace: American Crime Story. He will also be featured in the upcoming tenth season of American Horror Story.
Green Lantern will be written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith. The series is said to span multiple decades and will feature other Lanterns including Alan Scott.
