Doom is triumphant.
After managing to capture both Galactus and the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom and the Lady Victorious are feeling just that. The workers of Latveria have already begun constructing the means with which Doom will harness the power cosmic from Galactus and he needs to gloat to Reed Richards in order to prove his superiority. At the same time, Franklin and Val continue to work on a way to get to Latveria as Franklin continues to rebel.
Each member of the Fantastic Four is being held in a room specifically designed to negate their powers with Ben being used as the fulcrum that could hasten their deaths. As Doom goes to each one to gloat over his victory and intellectual prowess, he continues to try and come off as the benevolent leader trying to bring good to the world while also punishing those who cross him. With the entire universe witnessing his triumph, he decides to pass sentence on the team. An act that gives Susan enough time to show the entire universe that the Emperor has no clothes.
Dan Slott does a great job of emphasizing the menace of Doom in this issue. He’s written in an interesting and entertaining way that showcases just how dangerous he can be. Slott also does a great job of making the members of the Fantastic Four interesting and dynamic in their own right. They know the danger they are in and Reed is working on a plan to get them out. It’s fun to see because the reader can see the cracks in Doom’s plans as well as his arrogant belief in his ability to overcome everything.
The art is amazing in this issue as well and the artists do a great job of rendering the characters and the amazingly detailed backgrounds.
