The Rundown: Asami and Macraith find another on the island looking for escape and might sacrifice them both to get it.
After being ambushed in the woods, Asami and Macraith find themselves bound and prepared for sacrifice to the roiling volcano at the top of the island by one of the oldest denizens of it, a warrior that died at the hands of the Romans before coming to the island and being betrayed by their mutual enemy.
After convincing the man that there might be a way off the island, the pair is released and they attempt to make their way back to their base. A journey where the pair will find themselves giving in to their growing desire for each other. An act that could change everything on the island.
The Story: A consistently entertaining, thrilling and compelling story from Gerry Duggan. I love this series a lot and every issue has new and interesting twists for both the characters and their circumstances. The world building within this issue is awesome and I loved seeing a new character’s story added to it and what it could mean for the future of the series. I look forward to seeing the interpersonal and external conflicts continue to grow and evolve as this story takes on more intriguing emotional layers.
The Art: Brown’s art is spectacular. Not only do I love the character designs, but the world of the story is visually stunning and immersive.
