The Rundown: Ernest discovers that his connection to Evil Ernie isn’t an accident and that the person who did it might be coming for him.
Ernest finds out that the woman who started him on the journey to becoming Evil Ernie has a long history with the demon. A history that always ends with Ernie on the receiving end of a blade. After being told the truth of what happened to him and what will come, Ernest can’t handle it and runs away. At the same time, a mysterious figure with a connection to the roving bikers has an uncomfortable meeting that ends in a devastating threat.
When Ernest returns to the university, he quickly discovers that the influence of Ernie on his personality is growing. When his worried girlfriend comes to check on him, Ernest pushes her away hoping to save her, but when decides to become Ernie again, he will discover that he isn’t alone.
The Story: Lobdell creates a fun and entertaining story in this issue. I liked seeing the stakes raised for Ernest as well as the ways the character is growing and evolving as the story progresses. There is a great, engaging energy to this story and the conflict is one that is compelling as well as funny. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Medel delivers some fantastic art in this issue. The visuals are fun, funny, exciting and beautifully detailed.
