The Rundown: Thanos’ quest to become part of the machine will lead him to a dangerous Eternal.
The rule of Thanos has begun and no one is safe from his wrath including Druig’s own father. Thanos laments his latest discovery about his past and Druig suggests that he speak to someone that might have some insight. Someone who might actually be worse than Thanos himself and connected to him as well. Thanos finds himself in the presence of Uranos who is disappointed in the Titan for not being more ruthless. After verbally sparring with each other, Uranos relents a little ground and decides to tell his story.
As powerful as Uranos is, his inability to deny the principles of being an Eternal. Principles that force him to stop Deviants for the sake of what he considers lesser beings. Principles that he wants to deny. Uranos decides to speak to his brothers regarding his solution and discovers opposition to his plan. A plan he begins anyway that will end the existence of all Deviants. A plan that will lead to war, loss and a revelation that Thanos will discover might be exactly what he needs.
The Story: Gillen delivers a dark, entertaining and ominous story in this one shot. Gillen does a fantastic job of bringing the reader into the world of the Eternals and crafting a story that is suspenseful and engaging. Uranos is an interesting and thought provoking character that challenges Thanos and their interactions are compelling.
The Art: Bodeheim and Salazar deliver some awesome visuals in this issue. The art is evocative and perfectly captures the dark tone of the story.
