The Rundown: The Eternals sneak into Avengers Mountain to seek a way to stop Thanos.
In order to get the answers they seek, the Eternals have to speak with a Celestial. Unfortunately, the only one close to them is being used as a base for the Avengers. With Tony Stark already suspicious of the Eternals’ motives, Sersei decides to attempt to charm Namor to get what they want. As the pair go to talk, a small group of Eternals have infiltrated the base to get information as Phastos buys them time by allowing himself to be tortured by Thanos.
When Thanos threatens humanity, Phastos reveals part of what the Mad Titan needs to achieve his goal. A secret that will send him to see the people he despises the most in the universe. As the Eternals travel deeper into the base, one of the Avengers is alerted to their presence and goes to investigate. As Thanos decides to use more destructive tactics to get the answers he seeks, the Eternals are split up with some going to stop a disaster and the others facing off against the Avengers.
The Story: Gillen creates an intriguing and entertaining story in this issue. There are some great character and dialogue moments throughout with the banter between characters taking center stage. The Thanos moments are dark and disturbing throughout and bring great drama and tension to the story. I like a lot of the humorous moments in the story as well and I am interested in seeing what happens next.
The Art: Ribic delivers some solid and entertaining art in this issue. The action scenes are visually engaging and the character designs are interesting as well.
