The new Hellboy film starring David Harbour (Stranger Things) is scheduled to be released early next year and Empire magazine has a new image of Harbour suited up as the hero.
Director Neil Marshall has revealed that this iteration of Hellboy is going to be more violent and bloody than the previous films.
“It was always a case of, ‘When in doubt, go back to the source material.’ Some of the stuff is pretty sick,” he said. “More violent and more bloody. We weren’t making it with handcuffs on.”
Director Guillermo Del Toro wrote the first two Hellboy films. The new film is co-written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola along with fellow comic book writers Christopher Golden, Aron Coleite and Andrew Cosby. So expect more material from the comics to be included in this new film including characters absent from previous ones like Lobster Johnson.
Hellboy is scheduled to be released in theaters April 12, 2019.
