The Rundown: Elvira’s attempt at a comeback will lead to an all new adventure.
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark has been through some harrowing adventures recently and what better way to celebrate her victories is by trying to sell her story. When all of the streaming services turn her and her concept down, a dejected Elvira returns home to drown her sorrows. After a harrowing dream that includes the ghost of horror legend Vincent Price, Elvira awakens to some bad news from her agent.
Reeling from a business and personal betrayal, Elvira’s life will get more complicated when the ghost of Vincent Price appears to her again needing help with a mission that could save the world.
The Story: David Avallone delivers another fun adventure for the Mistress of the Dark. As a horror movie and Elvira fan, it is delightful seeing Elvira’s personality on the page along with Price’s erudite delivery. Both characters work really well together and there is such a fun energy to the story that every moment makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Juan Samu delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. Not only are the likenesses of the characters well done, but there is a great energy to the imagery that comes through with each page and panel.
