The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss is joining the cast of a new movie based on the comic book ‘The Kitchen’ from DC Comics Vertigo imprint.
The Kitchen, by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, tells the story of three wives of mobsters in 1970’s New York. All three live in Hell’s Kitchen and after their mobster husbands are rounded up by the FBI, the wives defy convention and take over the family business.
Melissa McCarthy plays an adoring wife and mother who leads the charge to take over the business. Tiffany Haddish plays another wife, who is willing to kill anyone who gets in her way. Moss will take the third lead playing a timid wife in an abusive relationship who blossoms when confronted with the violent aspects of her new life of crime.
Andrea Berloff, co-writer of Straight Outta Compton is making her directorial debut with The Kitchen with a screenplay she also wrote.
The Kitchen is set to premiere in theaters September 20, 2019.
