The Rundown: Hope uses her magical abilities when she faces off against a powerful enemy.

Hope waxes reminiscent on her childhood. In the present, she attempts to evade authorities after a theft. She is then aided by her friend Cor. The two are soon cornered and a violent altercation occurs. Afterwards, the captain of Teros Demond’s troops use an unusual method to track down the thieves. Elsewhere, Cor chastises Hope for stealing from a powerful leader. When Demond’s forces invade their safe house, an intense battle occurs. Hope must then face a formidable foe.

The Story: This is an interesting tale of magic and adventure. I’m fascinated by Hope and her abilities. At the moment, it isn’t clear to me whether or not she has control over her powers, or if they are the result of stress and emotion. I am also very interested in the world building. I want to know more about Teros Demond and the nature of his command. I feel that this series has a lot of promise and I’m looking forward to the next chapter in this story.

The Art: The drawings in this issue are extremely detailed. And the majority of the panels are filled with interesting characters and details that attract the eye. The color palette is intense and perfectly matches the tone of the story.
