The Rundown: Lawton investigates the death of a family as tensions in the town continue to grow.

Lawton comes upon the abandoned car in the middle of the road and discovers quickly that the vehicle is holding the bodies of the family and they seem to have been burned alive. At the same time, Lawton sees some local buzzards and finds another victim along with a clue to what might have caused the fire. Unfortunately, the mayor is wary of Lawton’s theory of the crime and what that theory could do to the already tense town.

As Lawton and the mayor clash, he continues his investigation into the possible murders while Sarah meets with the mayor and learns more about the sheriff and his dark past. A past that continues to haunt him while he continues to search for the truth.

The Story: I continue to be impressed with the story Jones and Bram are crafting in this issue. This issue has some great character development as well as building on the mystery within the story and the complications Lawton faces in his investigation both personal and political. There is great tension throughout the story and I love the examination of Lawton’s inner demons.

The Art: Jones delivers some stunning art throughout the story. I love the incredibly detailed pages and panels as well as the character designs.
