Deron GenerallyABC, Berlanti Productions and Warner Brothers Television are teaming up to bring a new supernatural series to television and they have found their lead.
According to Deadline, Suits and Pearson actor Gina Torres has been cast in a new series called ‘The Brides’, a contemporary re-imagining of the Dracula story. The series, written by producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and directed by Maggie Kiley, The Brides features Torres as Cleo Phillips, one of the brides of Dracula. A queen in her former life, Cleo was turned into a vampire after the death of her husband.
Cleo and the other brides are immortal, powerful women who will do whatever it takes to protect their power, prestige, legacy and wealth with Cleo taking on a mysterious newcomer while trying to keep her nontraditional family together.
According to the Deadline story, while the series will focus mainly on the Brides themselves, the character of Dracula will appear on the series.
