After witnessing Galactus being thrown into the Nether Realms, Strange has to make a huge sacrifice to keep the creature from destroying everyting in sight.
Galactus hungers and he’s set his sights on one of the magical worlds in the nether realms. Strange knows that if a creature derived of science consumes worlds created with magic, everything is going to get crazy. His first confrontation with Galactus does not go well when he tries to reason with the creature.
Galactus faces one of the denizens of the realm and easily takes the creatures energy. When he finds a new world, Stephen uses everything he can to stop him from devouring a planet teeming with life. Barely able to hold the spell, Strange finds himself getting a helping hand from Clea. Unfortunately for Strange, he’s come at a very difficult time and the fragile peace that the realm has been working towards is in danger of falling apart. This forces Stephen to make a dramatic sacrifice to guide Galactus out of the realm of magic.
Barry Kitson and Mark Waid are taking this story in some interesting and enjoyable directions. Strange and Galactus have an interesting dynamic and I am curious how their new dynamic will work out going forward and what his new position will mean for the Sorcerer Supreme.
The art is beautiful and the rendition of the Nether Realm looks amazing. Great visuals from Scott Koblish and Scott Hanna.
