The Rundown: A dark entity has invaded the Sanctum and the only one that can sense it is Bats the ghost dog.
Bats takes his role of defending the Sanctum and Strange seriously even when the Doctor is confronting the Vishanti in the aftermath of his last mission. When Bats begins to smell something unusual in their home, he tries to warn Stephen, but the demands of the outside world call him and Clea away.
With few allies and even fewer clues, Bats goes looking for the shadow stalking the Sanctum. That night, he and one of the talking snakes in the home discover the shadow. A shadow with a connection to Stephen Strange and a mission of revenge on his mind.
The Story: MacKay crafts an entertaining story that does a fantastic job of connecting to Strange while giving Bats the spotlight. I enjoyed the tone of the story and ominous nature of its antagonist. There are some great moments for the character and I really enjoyed the build up to the ultimate reveal and what it means for Strange and Clea.
The Art: Beyruth delivers some impressive imagery throughout the issue. I really liked the visual style and how it had a flowing tone that was perfect for a tale centering on ghosts.
