Lin Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton is one of the most successful Broadway shows in the history of the great white way and now more people will get to see the show in a brand new way.
According to Miranda and confirmed in Deadline, Disney reportedly paid $75 million for worldwide rights to the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning show. Miranda took to Twitter to announce the show, which was filmed with the original cast at the Richard Rogers Theatre.

Director Tommy Kail directed both the stage version and the movie, which consisted of shooting three live performances, and also some setup shots without an audience. Hamilton will be released in theaters October 15, 2021.
