Another previously scheduled theatrical release is coming to Disney Plus instead.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the upcoming Disney/Pixar animated feature SOUL will forgo its theatrical release and will come to Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus this winter.
Originally set to be released November 20th, the film starring Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, will not be following in the footsteps of the recent release of Mulan. That means that SOUL will not charge an additional $29.99 for the film. The film will be available for all subscribers Christmas Day.
Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company released a statement regarding the release saying; “A new original Pixar film is always a special occasion, and this truly heartwarming and humorous story about human connection and finding one’s place in the world will be a treat for families to enjoy together this holiday season.”
Soul director and Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter released a statement as well saying; Soul investigates what’s really important in our lives, a question we’re all asking these days. I hope it will bring some humor and fun to people at a time when everyone can surely use that.”
