The Rundown: Hercules and Meg go on the hunt for a dangerous monster created by the gods.
After deciding to return to Earth as a mortal, Hercules continues his adventures as a hero with Meg, Phil and Pegasus in order to show his father Zeus that he can be more useful among humanity instead of being a god. Unfortunately, this means that he still gets called on by the gods to clean up the messes they make in the world.
As Hercules tries to convince Meg that he doesn’t regret his decision to stay with her, Phil tells him that Aphrodite has called on him to destroy a monster created through her worship. A monster that will prove to be something entirely different than Hercules imagined.
The Story: Kalan crafts an entertaining story in this first issue. I like that it sets itself after the events of the movie and manages to keep the lighter tone to both the plot and characters. The comedic elements work well and the relationship between Hercules and Meg is cute and well written. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next.
The Art: Kambadais delivers some impressive art throughout the issue. The characters look great and the designs stay true to the spirit of the animated feature while expanding it visually.
