Walt Disney Pictures is moving forward with plans to reboot the hit Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise and the studio has found a new team to take it on.

According to an Exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has tapped Craig Maxim, creator of HBO’s award winning limited series Chernobyl. Maxim will join Pirates scribe Ted Elliot on a new series of Pirates adventures that will not feature Jonny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.

Jerry Bruckheimer is expected to return to produce.
