Disney continues to create a slate of live action movies based on their animated library and a new adaptation has just snagged a director.

According to Empire and The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has tapped director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct a live action adaptation of the 1963 Disney animated feature The Sword in the Stone.

The film, based on the T. H. White tetralogy The Once and Future King, deals with the relationship between a young Arthur and his mentor, the Wizard Merlin. Arthur learns a series of lessons from the wizard before the opportunity arrives for the future king to confront his destiny by pulling the sword Excalibur from the stone.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is the director of the films 28 Weeks Later and Intruders. Disney is also working on another project in the same world with Ridley Scott working on the rise of the wizard called The Merlin Saga.
