Letters by Clayton Cowles
The Rundown: The truth of DIE is revealed as one game comes to an end while another adventure begins.
The party has made it to the center of DIE and the power at the center of the world has a profound question to ask the group. A question that none of them can answer, but Sol might. Unfortunately, none of them has the right answer and they want to know what happens if they can’t come up with one. Chuck tries something desperate, but his act and subsequent apology only put them all in danger.
After the attack and the loss of a member of the group, Sol emerges renewed and with questions for his creation. Questions that will reveal the truth about DIE and the steps it took to create its existence. Steps that reach across time and space and connect each member of the party to bigger ideas and histories than they could have imagined. It also connects them to the fate of DIE as it reveals what will happen if they do not answer its question. In the aftermath, the party discovers the truth and how they are connected to it, but the adventure might not come to the end they expected.
The Story: Gillen pays off every plot point and character moment from the series in this issue. The issue is rich with character development, evolution and engagement. You cannot help but be swept away in this story and the twists and turns it takes. The revelations were brilliant and how they connected the characters and universe was fantastic. I enjoyed every moment of this story and cannot wait to see where it goes next given what happens at the end of the issue.
The Art: Hans blew me away with the beauty of the art in this issue. The imagery is brilliantly detailed and transports to this world with these characters. I loved every page of this issue.
