The Rundown: A new killer in town has Tracy and his team spooked.
In the wake of gang war, there is a new player in town targeting associates of the missing Lips Manlis. A killer who has a specific set of skills and hides behind a mask. With the press and others labeling this killer The Blank, Dick Tracy pays a visit to the Club Ritz to speak with its new owner Fangs Foreman. After a tense conversation, Tracy and company leave as he has another tense interaction waiting for him with Tess.
After being called back to the station to deal with another dead body, Tess gets a tip regarding the Blank. A tip that will lead her and one of Tracy’s officers in danger when they encounter the killer as Tracy races to rescue her determined to stop the serial killer once and for all.
The Story: Segura and Moreci return readers to the world of Dick Tracy with an engaging and thrilling psychological thriller. The story has a fantastic buildup of suspense, great drama and an intriguing premise. The story looks like it is going to force Tracy into a more investigative role than the previous arc and this story is also creating some interesting drama with Tess and the introduction of Breathless Mahoney. I look forward to seeing where this story goes next.
The Art: Borges delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the design of the killer as well. The use of shadows is perfect and brilliantly captures the mood and tone of the story.
