The Rundown: Batman’s dark journey brings him to familiar ground, but he is not alone.
Arzen and his forces continue to hunt Batman through the night as their takeover of the city continues. At the same time, the detective with a personal connection to the Dark Knight searches for him as well with a theory that brings him closer to discovering the truth about Batman himself.
Bruce continues to fight the darkness inside him as he succumbs to the influence of Barbatos and makes his way back to familiar ground. Unfortunately, he is not alone.
The Story: Ram V crafts a dark and often moving story in this issue. The continued downfall of Batman in this arc has a great emotional tone to it that transcends a lot of previous arcs for the character. The Arzen angle continues to be interesting and I loved following the detective and his investigation. There were so many interesting connections between him and Batman that came together to a fantastic and tragic end that I was not expecting and thoroughly impressed by.
The Art: Francavilla delivers some stunning art throughout the issue. The imagery brilliantly enhances and captures the dark and desperate tone of the story.
