The Rundown: As a new threat moves towards Gotham, Batman worries he’s two steps behind.
As mother and son spar in the desert, Talia tells her son a story. A story whose lessons have a connection to someone familiar to the both of them. In the present, Bruce Wayne pays a visit to the hospital to see if there is something physically wrong with him. Unfortunately, the response is not what he expected and he takes to the street to get answers.
After getting a clue from an informant, Batman takes to the night and finds himself face to face with Talia. A battle follows that will distract the dark knight from a dangerous and unknown threat that is poised to enter Gotham City for its own dark purposes.
The Story: Ram V offers an entertaining and thoughtful story in this issue. The story goes to some interesting places both with the plot and with Batman as a character. I really enjoyed how the story touches on Bruce’s humanity and challenges the character with something no one would expect. The villains in the story continue to be mysterious and their hidden motives keep me intrigued enough to read more.
The Art: Albuquerque delivers some beautifully detailed and visually thrilling art throughout. There are some visually brutal moments to be found that showcase just how menacing Batman can be.
