The Rundown: Batman races to rescue the mayor from an assassination plot.
Mayor Nakano and Saint continue to discuss the Magistrate’s role in the city as the force itself continues to become a bigger presence. After ending his meeting with Saint, Nakano finds himself on the other end of a gun and a firefight ensues that forces the mayor out of the building and into the arms of security officers who are not who they seem. Officers who find themselves taking on Batman.
Nakano is taken by the unknown forces with both Batman and the Magistrate in pursuit. After stopping the vehicle, Nakano escapes to the sewers while Batman takes on the men hunting the mayor, After going after the mayor himself they become separated and Nakano finds himself face to face with a new and unknown threat growing beneath the city.
The Story: Tamaki crafts an action packed story in this issue. The adventure starts with a bang and doesn’t let up as each moment ramps up the drama and tension with both Nakano and Batman. The plot is executed well and the pacing is fantastic. There is a second story from Matthew Rosenberg that is great as well and showcases Red Hood and Batman’s tense relationship as the vigilante is brought in to take command of a new team.
The Art: Dan Mora delivers some stunning art throughout the issue. The action is beautiful and there are some great details throughout in both the environments and the characters. A beautiful looking issue from start to finish.
