The Rundown: Batman’s investigation into a series of high profile murders is hampered when Bruce Wayne becomes a suspect.
Batman and Huntress discover the body of the man responsible for the death of Sarah Worth and begin to investigate a strange parasite that might be cause of death. At the same time, another body is discovered connected to Bruce Wayne’s neighborhood and her interaction with Bruce makes him the prime suspect in her death. With the GCPD looking for Bruce Wayne, Batman has to quickly return home. While Huntess continues their investigation, Nakano gets an ominous visit from Sarah Worth’s angry and violent father swearing revenge.
Bruce is brought in for questioning and things go from bad to worse when Worth decides to seek his own form of justice with a bazooka. Nakano’s assistant also reveals a dark secret. Two more stories highlight the darkness of the city from another perspective and John Ridley pens a short story of Lucius’ early days working with Batman.
The Story: Tamaki continues to show a mastery at getting to the depth of these characters. The issue was brilliantly written, filled with tension and excitement. I loved the reveals throughout and the pace kept everything exciting. Bringing all the action close to home for Bruce shows an engaging evolution of the character. The other stories add great color and dimension to not only the city, but also Bruce’s relationship with it and Lucius.
The Art: Bogdanovic delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout this issue. The story is filled with awesome detail and the action is exciting and visually thrilling.
