Deadpool Kills Cable Part One: Take Two
Deadpool has been tasked by Stryfe to kill the only friend he has left in the world; Cable. Both men are in a pitched battle as Cable calls in some reinforcements to drive back the merc. Cable temporarily gets away, but Deadpool tracks him to a local hospital and the two continue to fight with Cable trying to figure out why.
The two brawl until it looks like Deadpool has the upper hand as he’s effectively prevented Nate from body sliding. As Deadpool moves in for a death-blow, Temporal Officers intervene and escape with Cable, leaving Deadpool in a tachyon field frozen. When they leave, he’s left alone with the only means he can think of to track down Cable and the agents who took him, but it’s going to require a sacrifice to take control of it.
There are always funny moments in a Deadpool book and there are some solid ones in this one. While I enjoyed the lighter moments in the story, I actually found myself enjoying the twists Wade is putting himself through in order to do the wrong thing for the right reasons. More and more it seems like Stryfe has him cornered and that the merc with a mouth is running out of options and I like the sense of desperation Wade is experiencing in the story.
Can’t wait to read what happens next.
