More casting news is coming out of Lucasfilm for the new Star Wars series The Mandalorian set to debut on Disney+.
Jon Favreau is writing the series and executive producing it along with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni and Colin Wilson. According to the synopsis from Lucasfilm; “The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano has come on board the new series in an undisclosed role. She will join Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal who will be the lead in the series. Carano’s previous acting roles include action films like Haywire and Fast and Furious 6 as well as starring as Angel Dust in the first Deadpool film.
The Mandalorian is set to debut on the Disney+ streaming service when it launches sometime in 2019.
