The Rundown: Two ancient forces battle for supremacy with one woman caught between them.
It is the reign of Augustus and Roman forces have been dispatched to Germania to end a rebellion. As the Roman forces make their way through the woods, the commander and his love Honoria discuss their future. An attack ends their discussion as rebels ambush the caravan.
At the same time, a Roman named Arminius leads the rebel forces against the Romans with the goal of securing Honoria for himself. As word of the battle reaches him, he sends his forces to retrieve her while trying to keep the fragile peace between the factions.
The Story: Kennedy crafts an entertaining first issue full of great world building and conflict. The characters are engaging and the premise has a great mystery filled with tension throughout. I love the action and intrigue of the story and look forward to seeing how it progresses.
The Art: Marinkovich delivers some beautiful art throughout the first issue. I love the art style and how well it complements the tone of the story.
