The Rundown: Monk confronts Bree Hale about her wayward brother as the noose begins to tighten on his operation.
Monk is in the process of tying up some loose ends when he gets the news he had been hoping for. Bree Hale has been captured alive, but there have been some significant losses on his side and Detective Dane is alive and on the loose. With time running out for the criminal, he goes to Bree and tells her why he’s after her brother. When she still doesn’t give him up, Monk loses it.
When Bree comes to, she works to escape and finds herself staring down Monk’s assistant Will and the business end of a shotgun. With time running out and very few choices left for any of them, he lets her go and she heads straight to her brother knowing she isn’t going alone.
The Story: Justin Jordan is bringing this story into the home stretch with the same level of tension and uncertainty that has made it worth reading since the first issue. Everything is coming to a head and the story continues to build tension for all of the characters as it moves into what is shaping up to be an explosive finale.
The Art: Benjamin Tiesma amplifies the tension and action in the story with some great art that brutal and beautifully detailed. Every panel of the Bree/Monk exchange is brilliantly paced and perfectly captures the tone of the story.
