The Rundown: The holidays become hell when the Goblin Queen attacks New York.

It’s Christmas time in New York and the X-Men find their shopping trip interrupted by inanimate objects coming to life and attacking civilians. All of the attacks have the distinct scent of Limbo on them and Magick knows Madelyne Pryor must be involved. Unfortunately, that means taking half the team with her to the realm.

The rest of the team is left to deal with the panic in the streets as Spider-Man swings in to lend a hand to Firestar and Iceman when the Rockefeller Center tree starts attacking people. As the heroes work to stop the killer Christmas tree, Magick, Cyclops, Havok and Jean find themselves captured by Madelyne who has no plans on stopping her attack until she gets what she wants.

The Story: I’m still on the fence about the Dark Web storyline, but this was a fun issue overall. Duggan tries a little too hard to be hard to be light and funny with the dialogue, but it can be forgiven considering the tone of the story. The highlight was definitely the Spider-Man team up with Firestar and Iceman and the jokes about their incompatible power sets and Amazing Friends reference.

The Art: Reis does a great job with the art in the issue. I love the stylized look of the visuals and how they complement the fun tone of the story.
