The Rundown: Zala’s return to the Kingdom of El causes a stir, and a startling revelation leads to conflict.
The story opens with Zala and Kal-El having a conversation regarding her recent activities. Meanwhile, in the Hobb Forest, Harley makes a request of the Lady of the Forest. They are soon interrupted by the appearance of Diana Prince and an altercation occurs. Afterwards, Diana and Zala discuss current affairs. Elsewhere, Bruce’s confession to Kal-El leads to surprising results. Then, in the end, Bruce makes the acquaintance of someone interesting.
The Story: The mind of Tom Taylor is truly a wondrous thing. Every time I think I can no longer be surprised, a new twist in the plot has me nearly screaming aloud, and I absolutely love it. The familial dynamics and personal relationships of this chapter are brilliantly done, and I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for the House of El.
The Art: The illustration is done in a modern styling with detailed drawings and bold colorwork. The attention to character and scenery are visually appealing and further draw the reader into the story. Overall, I feel that this is a well done issue that perfectly matches the tone of the story.
