The Rundown: Avery reveals what happened to him during the war and goes on a hunt for answers.
As Avery makes his way to somewhere that might be safe, his mind wanders back to better times before he left for the war when he could spend time with Emma planning for their future. Unfortunately, a worried Emma is looking for her husband and calling anyone that might have seem him. As time runs out before an event that will change everything for him, Avery goes to see his younger brother looking for help.
With the police closing in, Avery reveals to his brother what has happened to him and the power he cannot control. After the demonstration, Avery tells his brother exactly what happened to him in Germany after his plane went down. In the aftermath of his story, Avery and his brother slip out just before the police arrive and Avery decides that he wants answers from the man who experimented on him.
The Story: Morgan continues to craft a compelling and intricate story in this issue. The characters continue to be engaging. Avery and his life are both compelling as well and not just his experiences in the war. Morgan does a great job of fleshing out Avery as a person by showing both the moments of terror and tension, but also moments of heart. This issue has some great dramatic tension throughout and I cannot wait to see where the story goes next.
The Art: Hidalgo delivers some impressive visuals throughout the issue. There are some great dramatic moments in the story that are brought to life by detailed panels and emotion filled characters. A great looking issue.
