The Rundown: Avery tries to make it home, but that might bring more trouble.

Avery thinks back on his time in the war and the woman he’s fighting to come home to. As Em deals with the reality of life in the south and the ever present eye of officer Wright, Avery and his wingman look for shelter after their planes are shot down. With soldiers on their heels, they find what might be a safe haven as an injured Avery tries to stay alive.

In the present, Avery awakens in the woods just in time for Sheriff Wright to get a lead on his location and Avery has to run again for his life. When Wright decides to pay a visit to Avery’s home to harass his wife and daughter, Avery decides that it is too dangerous to return and looks for somewhere he might be safe.

The Story: Morgan continues to ramp up the suspense as both parts of the story continue to be compelling and intriguing. Avery’s journey keeps me interested with each moment and the setting delivers some intense and timely drama. Em’s journey is equally as compelling as both parties have their connection with Wright as a through line. A through line that has its own dark undertones. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this story.

The Art: Hidalgo delivers some brilliantly paced and beautiful art on every page. The art perfectly captures the tone and energy of the story.
