Daredevil #609
Marvel Comics

The NYU Emergency Room is always full of activity and the night Matt Murdock is brought in is no different. As the staff tries to identify him and they determine that he has no family, Matt drifts in and out of consciousness and we see the event that almost kills him.
It’s a relatively benign moment in the life of a citizen of conscience. It’s not the result of a supervillain attack or the aftermath of battle and that’s what makes the scenario and what follows so interesting. After Matt is revived, he has a new attitude when it comes to how he conducts his life. He comes to a realization about his own mortality and rather than playing it safe, he decides to life every moment like it is his last. Everything from his activities as Daredevil to his investigation into Mayor Fisk is changing and when he returns to his home, he finds his most dangerous temptation waiting for him.
Soule seems to be pulling out all the stops in this story. He’s crafting an interesting story for Matt. One that sees him taking some huge personal risks with the people around him and those bold moves should make for some interesting drama with this particular storyline. It’s going to be interesting to see where the story takes Daredevil before its ultimate end and the final page of this issue opens the possibility for some intense drama to come.
Phil Noto’s art is amazing. It perfectly captures the tone of this story and I loved the style and how it evolved over the issue.
