The Rundown: In her quest to rid herself of the entity following her, Daphne will discover betrayal at every turn.
Daphne is running away from her actions and convinced that the entity speaking with her is a figment of her imagination. Unfortunately, that figment is bringing some true horrors with it. When she goes to a friend for help trying to sort out her feelings, she is attacked and betrayed by a man she thought she could trust. Her reaction is swift, violent and indicative of the darkness growing inside her.
At the same time, her mother discovers a dark truth about the woman she’s been trusting. A dark truth that will send her and her daughter on an even darker journey.
The Story: Laura Marks crafts a story of increasing darkness and betrayal throughout this issue and confronts the characters with evil in all forms. The dialogue is excellent and Daphne’s journey is filled with twists and turns that are engaging to the reader. The story moves well right into a cliffhanger filled with dark secrets and revelations.
The Art: Kelley Jones’ art is fantastic throughout this issue. From the highly detailed backgrounds to the disturbing characters, everything looks great. Jones does some awesome work with shadows throughout and gives every page an ominous beauty.
