In another shocker for the hit AMC series, it looks like another principal cast member will be making an exit from The Walking Dead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, star Danai Gurira is leaving the long running series at the end of its tenth season. The exclusive in THR states that Gurira will appear in a limited capacity and only in a handful of episodes before her departure.
Gurira joined the series in season three as the kitana-weilding warrior Michonne. She has been in integral part of the series ever since and her departure is being considered another creative blow to the series.
Gurira has a lot creatively on her plate, making her Walking Dead departure a blow to fans, but not disruptive to her career. Besides starring in both Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War as Wakandan warrior Okoye, she is expected to return for both Avengers Endgame and the upcoming Black Panther sequel.
Gurira also has a prolific professional life as a playwright, earning both a OBIE Award as well as being nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play for Eclipsed starring Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o. She is currently adapting Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Americanah as a miniseries she will produce and will also star Nyong’o.
