There’s been a new casting announcement from The CW regarding its upcoming live action DC Comics Superman and Lois series.
According to Deadline, Warner Brothers Television, Greg Berlanti and The Flash executive producer Todd Helbing have cast actress Emmanuelle Chriqui in the role of Lana Lang on the upcoming series. Chriqui will join as a series regular opposite stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch and the recently cast Dylan Walsh.
Originally created by Bill Finger and John Sikela, Lana Lang is originally from Smallville and was a friend of Clark Kent and an occasional love interest in the comics often vying for his attention with Lois Lane. Chriqui will play Lana Lang-Cushing, the loan officer at the Smallville Bank. Her character stayed in Smallville while everyone else left and she re-establishes a friendship with Hoechlin’s Clark Kent.
In the comics, Lang is one of the first and few people to know Clark’s secret life as Superman and it is unclear if Chriqui’s character will have that knowledge or discover during the course of the series.
Emmanuelle Chriqui is known for her roles in series like The Passage, Murder in the First, The Mentalist and Entourage as well as her film work in movies like The Steps, Super Troopers 2 and The Knight Before Christmas.
